Go Small

Success comes from doing common things uncommonly well. — John D Rockefeller

10 weeks into arriving into Dahab and acclimating to the freediver lifestyle, my mindset has been reengineered thanks to the local and expatriate community. I love training — the endorphin hit from progressing and oxytocin release from coach/cohort encouragement. After having to take a 3 week break from overtraining, I vow to never let that happen again and shift my attention to going small — focusing on micro actions I can do daily without depletion. Specifically

  • From multitasking to having one single goal for each action, each session, each day, each week, each training period
  • From going big or going home to just doing enough to reach the next milestone (per Greg McKeown’s Effortless)
  • From replicating big leaps to owning the depth
  • From maximizing progress to maximizing ease and enjoyment
  • From attention seeking to attention giving
  • From one hit wonder to becoming a fixture in the game

Per Wayne Dyer, infinite patience produces immediate result. To walk the narrow path between achieving and self sabotage is to be completely in the present, cocreating the next milestone with body and mind.

What does going small look like to you?
